Kutná Hora

Secret Bohemian treasury undiscovered by tourists

Kutná Hora, the city of silver, is deservedly attributed the other name “national treasury”. Its wealth helped to ensure the rise of the medieval Czech Kingdom. The centre of the city was included in the UNESCO world heritage list in 1995 thanks to its historical importance and architectural gems. We’ll stop by the Silver mining museum to discover the importance of Kutna Hora to the Czech Kingdom. Later we’ll explore the medieval streets, houses and churches which tell a story full of important events. The symbol of Kutná Hora is the unique late Gothic Cathedral of St. Barbara, while other highlights include the somewhat ghoulish, but oddly beautiful Sedlec Ossuary – the ‘bone chapel’ of sedlec cemetery that is decorated with the skeletons of forty thousand people.

Highlights include:

  • the Bone Chapel
  • St. Barbara’s Cathedral
  • Silver Mining Museum
  • Old Bohemian Gothic Houses
